Music

Our intent at Broadheath CE Primary School and Pre-School is to encourage learners to become Musicians who develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the multicultural and diverse global community in which they live. Through the implementation of a thorough and progressive Music curriculum our children will be equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills and cultural capital to be contributing, well rounded citizens with high expectations and ambition. We use resources from Charanga Musical School and support from Severn Arts Music to shape our curriculum for music.

Through our Music curriculum we aim that:

  • All children will possess a curiosity and appreciation of different types of music.
  • Every child should have the opportunity to develop their musical potential.
  • Children gain an understanding of music through playing instruments, singing, listening, evaluating music and composing across a range of musical genres and periods of history.
  • To ensure that children respect and understand the importance of music in the wider community and within themselves.
  • To encourage and foster a lifelong interest in performing and listening to music.
  • To understand and use a range of musical vocabulary.
  • Pupils should feel confident in expressing feelings and thoughts through both listening to and participating in music.
