Pupil Premium

Each year, our school receives additional government funding known as the Pupil Premium Grant. This funding supports schools in improving the educational outcomes of children who may be facing disadvantage.

The Pupil Premium Grant is a vital source of funding provided by the government to help raise the educational outcomes of disadvantaged pupils. We use this funding strategically to support our children in a variety of meaningful ways, ensuring that they benefit from the same high-quality education as their peers. We invite all parents to learn more about how the Pupil Premium is being used to enhance the educational experience and outcomes for eligible pupils at our school.

What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is extra funding allocated to schools based on the number of pupils who:

  • Are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)

  • Have received FSM at any point in the last six years (“Ever 6”)

  • Are looked after or previously looked after by the local authority

  • Have a parent serving in the armed forces

This funding helps close the attainment gap between these pupils and their peers, ensuring that every child—whatever their background—has the opportunity to achieve and thrive.

How We Use the Funding:

At Broadheath CE Primary School, we use our Pupil Premium funding to make a meaningful difference to children’s learning and wellbeing. Our priorities for 2025–26 include:

  • Improving reading outcomes by increasing parental engagement and promoting a love of books both at school and home

  • Providing high-quality teaching and targeted support so every child can access the curriculum

  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and inclusion, helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours

  • Removing barriers to learning through enrichment opportunities, additional tuition, and personalised pastoral care

All spending decisions are carefully planned, evidence-based, and reviewed regularly to ensure funding is used effectively.

Our Impact:

We closely monitor the progress of all pupils supported by the Pupil Premium to ensure the interventions we provide are making a measurable difference. Governors receive regular updates, and each year we publish:

  • Pupil Premium Evaluation (review of the previous year)

  • Pupil Premium Strategy Statement (current plans and priorities)

These documents are available at request.
