The Local Academy Board (LAB)
The Diocese of Worcester Multi Academy Trust (DoWMAT) holds overall responsibility for the school. The Local Academy Board (LAB) operates at a local level, providing oversight and holding the Headteacher and senior leadership team to account. The LAB has taken on the role previously carried out by the school’s Governing Body.
What does the LAB do?
The key responsibilities of the LAB include:
-
Ensuring that pupils are part of a successful academy that delivers a high-quality education and supports their overall wellbeing;
-
Contributing to strategic leadership and providing operational oversight;
-
Representing local views and addressing local matters;
-
Promoting high standards and maintaining the Christian distinctiveness of the school.
The specific responsibilities of the LAB are set out in the DoWMAT Scheme of Delegation (see below).
Who are the members of the LAB?
The LAB is made up of committed individuals who share an interest in education. Board members work closely with school staff to support pupils’ learning and development, offering both support and constructive challenge as a critical friend.
